About The Name
People often ask about the name of the company, and everyone struggles with the pronunciation. Technika (pronounced TEHK-nee-kah) is the Czech word for engineering. Chris's grandfather on his mother's side was a Czech immigrant who built founded and ran a sheetmetal fabrication company in the Northeast in the 1940s and 1950s. He worked on a variety of notable projects, and is certainly a contributing factor to Chris's engineering passion.
The Technika Story
Established in 2013 by Chris Wigginton, Technika arose out of a need for a dedicated engineering consultant in Charleston with a passion for historic buildings, quality service, and a personal approach. What started as a vision to provide better engineering services has grown into a trusted partner for architects, contractors, and property owners throughout the Southeast.
Since then, Chris has been managing each project personally, and with a lot of help from his team, assisting local architects, contractors, and homeowners with renovations, additions, and new construction projects all over the Charleston area and the southeast. Our commitment to personal service means that every client works directly with our principal engineer, ensuring continuity and quality throughout the project lifecycle.
